Home Tips Decoration Idea For Holiday

Home Tips Decoration Idea For Holiday

* Get kids involved. When you create crafts with your children, you’re not just making decorations, you’re making memories that will stay with them throughout their lives. Plus, making crafts together will make each item feel that much more meaningful when you use it to decorate your home.

* Choose craft items that complement your home’s overall theme. For example, if you love clean, contemporary modern lines, make items that mimic that look. Crafts that incorporate reflective surfaces and metallic looks will fit well with contemporary themes. Softer fabrics and materials will mesh with a country theme.

* Make crafts that will endure and be durable for seasons to come. “You’ll invest your time and a bit of yourself in every item you make,” Skinner says. “Opt for items that will be easy to care for and that will appeal to your sense of the holidays not just this year, but next year and the year after that as well.”

* Give yourself plenty of time and space in which to create. You’re not rushing the season if you start working on your holiday crafts in early November or even late October. You’re just giving yourself plenty of time to accomplish everything you want to do. Also, dedicate a specific area of your home to your crafting and keep all your projects in one place – this way you’ll have everything you need at your fingertips.

Fruit Garden Tips

Locate your small fruit planting as close to your home as possible, in full sun. Space in or near the vegetable garden is usually preferred. Where space is a limiting factor, small fruits may be used in place of ornamental plants of comparable size. Strawberries may be used as a border for a flowerbed or as a ground cover. Grapes and raspberries may be planted parallel to the garden on a trellis or a fence along a property line.Fruit Garden Tips

Blueberries may be planted to form a dense hedge or used in a foundation planting around the home. Select a site that is free from frost pockets, low/wet spots, and exposure to strong prevailing winds. Small fruits thrive best in a fertile, sandy loam soil high in organic matter, but they will give good returns on the average garden soil under adequate fertilization and good cultural practices.

Overcrowding frequently results in weak plants and low yields. It also makes insect and disease control more difficult

Ornamental Garden Idea

An ornamental grass garden is the perfect addition to a yard needing rich, exciting foliage and texture. Including ornamental grasses not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of your garden but it gives it a natural elegance that is sometimes lacking in traditional gardens.

Tall ornamental grasses that work well in landscaping are Variegated Maiden Grass, Variegated Prairie Cord Grass, Zebra Grass, Silver Feather Grass, and Pampas Grass. Pampas grass and Silver Feather Grass both provide quite a show in the fall, Pampas grass especially with its huge white spikes that look like feather dusters.

Medium height grasses include Ribbon Grass, Flame Grass, Fountain Grass, Manna Grass, and Witch Grass. Fountain grass is one of the more popular ornamental grasses used in landscaping because of its tight compact form, purple plumes and it gold colored foliage in the fall. If you decide to use Ribbon Grass in your garden, make sure you leave it enough space to grow and watch for any stray blades that decide to root themselves where you did not plant them. Ribbon Grass is considered an invasive plant and it can be very aggressive when the conditions are right.

Short grasses tend to be a little more showy when it comes to foliage and flowers. Some great grasses to include in your garden are Mosquito Grass, Hare's-tail Grass, Squirreltail Glass, Red Fesque, and Snowy Wood Rush. Squirreltail and Mosquito Grass have light wispy plumes that bloom towards the end of summer. If you have a large yard or field that you want to fill with grasses both of these are a good choice. Neither plants gets to tall so you can walk through a field of them, and the grass blades are soft enough to roll in if you are even inclined.

Your ornamental grass garden will require very little maintenance once it has been planted. Remember to place your garden in an area that recieves full sun and drains well for the best results. If you experience a drought, water the garden once every ten days till it begins to rain again. At the end of the growing season cut back the foliage on all your grasses to encourage new growth next summer.
